About

I was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1997. Creating has been the center of my life for as long as I can remember. I started oil painting at twelve-years-old but explored other mediums such as pastels and drawing much younger. In high school I attended a specialty center at Henrico High School, Center for the Arts, where I was a part of the Visual Arts program. This program allowed me to explore a wide variety of mediums and subject materials, taught me how to hang and display artwork in gallery settings, and greatly helped me understand composition, color, and craftsmanship. The first three years focused on learning a variety of techniques and subject materials, and lead up to the final year where we were able to explore any area of visual arts we chose and ended in a gallery showcase at Art Works in Richmond, Virginia. For my independent study that year I chose to explore the transformative quality of makeup and unusual applications to the skin. I was awarded with Scholastic’s Gold Key Portfolio for my series of self makeup applications and a Silver Key for a singular entry. After high school I intended to become a special effects and editorial makeup artist and aspired to attend Cinema Makeup School in Los Angeles, California while continuing my studies of art at a university focusing on painting, sculpture, and color theory.

I then went on to attend California State University Long Beach studying Studio Arts with concentrations in painting and sculpture. In between my spring and fall semesters during my summer breaks from 2017-2019 I completed the Complete Track makeup program at Cinema Makeup School. While I went to California to study makeup and to become a professional makeup artist, I ended up getting absorbed with my personal work I completed at California State University Long Beach. I completely fell in love with oil painting and ceramic sculpture. I became very interested in abstraction of natural and organic forms. The dreamy landscape of California transformed my visual language and inspired my focus in my personal work. Visiting a variety of natural locations expanded my horizons and made me hungry to explore the natural world and express the unique quality of forms through my painting. In February of 2020 I was part of a gallery show including Vida Diaz, Fabiola Sillas, and myself called “Organic Matter". This experience of holding a show with two artists I love and admire taught me so much and inspired me to pursue my painting fully and work towards having more future gallery exhibitions. After graduating from CSU Long Beach in the Spring of 2020 I moved back to my hometown of Richmond, Virginia to continue pursuing my personal work as well as create commissioned pieces.
